Changing service account credentials

You can edit service account credentials on the protected server. Every node in the Backup Group must be running in the same mode.

To change service account credentials

  1. On the Tools menu of the Administration Console, click CPS Services.

  2. Click Services credentials.

  3. In the Security Mode list box, select one of the following modes.

    Domain mode

The user account must be a domain account that is recognized by every node that participates in backup. The account must be a member of the local administrator’s group on the computer running the services. Symantec strongly recommends that customers use Domain mode, which is more secure than Workgroup mode. The user must have administrative credentials to run the CPS services.

    Workgroup mode

A user account is not required to run in Workgroup mode. Workgroup mode may be necessary for customers who are running outside of a Domain.
